Nile cruise Luxor to Aswan
Checked October 2026
The tour operator Egypt Escapes sells two sightseeing sets. The lighter set covers Karnak, Luxor Temple, Kom Ombo, Esna, Philae and the High Dam. The fuller set adds the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Exact stops depend on the ship and the set, so ask for the day-by-day timetable.
Every stop below is from the tour operator Egypt Escapes' excursions page, read on 15 October 2026. It's a seller describing its own trips. Treat the stops as a pattern to compare, not a promise.
How long is a Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan?
The ship sets it, so ask for the day-by-day timetable first. Then count two things on it. Count the nights spent sailing. Count the nights spent moored. The split shows how much of the holiday is on the move.
Our page on how long a Nile cruise is goes through the lengths the sellers describe.
Which sites are included in a Luxor to Aswan cruise?
Egypt Escapes sells two sightseeing sets with its Luxor to Aswan sailings.
The lighter set covers Karnak, Luxor Temple, Kom Ombo, Esna, Philae and the Aswan High Dam.
The fuller set adds the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon.
Both sets include an Egyptologist guide and air-conditioned road transport.
So the fuller set is the lighter set plus three more sites around Luxor.
A sightseeing set is the list of stops your guide takes you to. Two holidays on the same stretch of river can come with different sets. So compare the list of stops, not the route name.
Check which set your holiday uses. Ask whether it's in the fare or an extra you add. Ask which stops you'd miss if you took the other one.
What is the best Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan?
There is no single best. It depends on what you want to see and how you want to sail. Compare the sightseeing set, the ship and the start date. Our guide to Nile cruises covers how to weigh them.
Do you see pyramids on a Nile cruise?
Not in the sightseeing sets Egypt Escapes lists for Luxor to Aswan. It lists the Pyramids of Giza among its Cairo excursions. Our page on a Nile cruise and Cairo explains how the two fit together.
Two extras that are not on the ship
Plan Abu Simbel as its own trip. It isn't on the Luxor to Aswan ship. The seller lists it as a separate trip from Aswan. The coach leaves at 05:00 for a 3.5-hour drive south. You can also reach it as part of a Lake Nasser cruise.
A hot-air balloon ride over Luxor is the other extra. It starts at dawn and flies over the temples and farmland. It's optional, and not part of the cruise.
Both change what the holiday costs and what your days look like. So ask for each one to be listed as included or extra.
What to ask before you choose
- Which sightseeing set comes with this sailing?
- Which direction does the ship sail?
- How many nights are spent sailing, and how many moored?
- Are Abu Simbel and the balloon ride included, or extra?
- Is the Egyptologist guide with you on every day of sightseeing?
- What time does each day of sightseeing start?
